Why Do I Need a 78 rpm Needle
We get quite a few questions about needle selection, especially for "vintage" 78 RPM records. A common mistake is trying to use an LP stylus made for a micro groove on a vintage 78 or any 78 for that matter. The LP stylus is much narrower (about 1/4 the size) and thus the tip will ride down in the very bottom of the groove - missing most of the music and resulting in the "tinny" sound so frequently associated with 78 RPM records. The LP stylus, quite literally, misses most of the music encoded on the sides of the groove.
The old 78 RPM recording is then blamed in the mistaken belief it's too worn to be playable. Aside from that, there's no better way to ruin a vintage 78 groove than to use an LP stylus on a vintage cut groove. In the case of any record, but especially the vintage 78's where there a wide variety of groove cuts to begin with, proper stylus selection is everything.
Our 78 RPM needles are sized correctly to maximize the music from your 78 RPM records. Make sure your customer who asks about 78 RPM compatibility knows that a 78 RPM needle is required, not just suggested.

The color of the Wood Stain varies slightly with each batch of radios. The record players are very reliable and very seldom have a problem, but if the record player is not working when you receive it, we will get it fixed or replace it. Unfortunately, we are able to accept returns or exchanges.

Warranty
Although it is very rare, if the customer has a problem with a product on this page in the first 30 days, we will repair or replace the item and pay for the shipping on the replacement unit, as well as issue UPS “3-attempt” call-tags for the defective product. There is no cost to you. Please contact GameRoomAntiques for instructions on how to return during the first 30 days.
All products on this page are also covered by a one year manufacturers warranty. A Warranty Card, included with each product, provides this information to consumers. The manufacturer will repair or replace a defective unit for a period of one year after purchase. Customers will need to pay shipping to the manufacturer and enclose a check for $19.95 for the replacement or repaired unit return.
